Shanmugam Sathananthan P.Eng. has over 38 years’ of experience in process development, data analysis, continuous improvement and manufacturing management. He is a Professional Engineer and in 1996 completed Certificate in Management & Administration. After working in 4 different continents and 4 Canadian provinces, Satha decided to retire in 2018 to focus on his lifelong passion of serving the Sri Lankan Tamil community.

Satha was an active member of Tamil Cultural Society of Manitoba (TCSM), having been a board member, secretary and president of TCSM when he lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba. TCSM plays a vital role in the cultural and social life of Tamil ethnic group living in Manitoba.
​
Satha was a founding director of Gods Own Children – Canada, which ran fundraisers and organized sponsorship programs to support of Gods Own Children Foundation (GOCF) of Sri Lanka. GOCF was a secular humanitarian non-profit organization served disadvantaged children and youth in north east Sri Lanka. From 2009 to 2013, GOCF operated children residential facilities for war affected-children of Vanni.

From 2007 to 2012 Satha was the President of Kuppilan Vigneswara Makkal Mantram – Canada, a non-profit organization which fosters continuing ties between the diaspora from the Kuppilan village of Sri Lanka and raise funds to assist with the rebuilding of Kuppilan.
​
Satha has recently been promoted to “grandfather status” and is looking forward to spending his retirement with his granddaughter Nila and in building up Eekai to be a credible and reliable service organization.
